Nook Pod wins Best Furniture Solution at the Global Coworking Conference Awards 2019 in Denver.
Winner of Best Furniture Solution / Piece at Coworking Awards
Nooks’ first award since launching in September 2016
Over 500 Nook Pods sold worldwide
The Coworky Awards were held this April in Denver, Colorado, honouring the best of the best in coworking spaces. Nook Pod is a UK designed and made huddle space – and we are thrilled to have won “Best Furniture Solution / Piece”, competing against five other outstanding short-listed workplace designs, including popular Finnish company Framery.
The Coworky Awards are run by GCUC (pronounced ‘juicy’), a Global Coworking Conference with members across the globe and conferences on all four continents. GCUC explores the latest game-changing workspaces and disruptors within the coworking movement. Coworking is here to stay; 89% of people who cowork report feeling happier, and by 2020, 3.8 million members are predicted to be part of a coworking space. Demand is predicted to continue to flourish with corporates sending workers into coworking spaces in record numbers.
Considering the worldwide demand for coworking spaces, it’s evident to see why winning global recognition is such a big deal. “It’s truly amazing news,” said David O’Coimin, Nook Pod’s Designer & CEO, who was delighted to find out that Nook had won first place. “Just to be nominated was a huge honour. There are some great designers, doing some really interesting and important things in New Ways of Working. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for us”.
With the rise of coworking spaces and increasingly open plan workspaces, David originally created Nook Pods as a quiet refuge for introverts or those on the autistic spectrum in the workplace. Thanks to their mobility, flexibility, acoustic design and integrated technology, Nook is being recognised for improving productivity, communication, and one of the hottest topics this year – wellbeing.
Nook Pods have already been snapped up by an impressive client list including Facebook, BP, Samsung, GoDaddy, and Adidas while also popping up at Events, Hotels, Science & Innovation parks and in the Retail sector.
David is passionate about bringing New Ways Of Working, neuro-inclusivity, and agility of space to organisations, believing that happy brains in happy spaces lead to better living and working.
“The workplace can be intense and stressful, so Nooks provide a space to recharge as well as alleviating the pressure on fixed meeting rooms and solving the challenge of finding spaces for phone and video calls,”.
“A person’s productivity is determined by the task at hand, how our individual brains operate, our immediate environment and even the time of day or who is around us. Whether it’s a small ad-hoc meeting that’s required or a quiet personal focus zone, we’re creating flexible intimate spaces accessible to everyone and helping organisations to take steps forward in addressing workplace wellbeing and productivity challenges”.
